Our Health and Safety Commitment
Caythorpe has been designated a Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) installation as is the case with many gas storage facilities. This means it will receive a higher level of regulation from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). There have been no HSE reportable accidents since work started at the site.
We are committed to health and safety, whether it’s making provisions for the welfare of our employees or others that may be affected by our activities. You’ll find out main aims and objectives highlighted below:
- Adopting an effective health and safety management system
- Including necessary requirements for process safety
- Assigning clear accountabilities to support implementation
- Creating an interactive and co-dependent health and safety culture
- Providing suitable resources
- Communication and consulting with employees and others
We will achieve these objectives by: ensuring we comply with relevant legal requirements, identifying hazards, minimising risks and providing suitable training to develop competencies and skills.
Additionally:
- We are required to submit a Safety Report to the HSE so they can verify the safety of the design
- We are required to prepare an on-site Emergency Plan
- East Riding of Yorkshire Council is required to prepare an off-site Emergency Plan
- The Health and Safety Executive will inspect the site
